Thread: New Diver for my Dad (urchin vs monster)

New Diver for my Dad (urchin vs monster)

My dad's 007 has been beaten up pretty good over the years (10 years old) and it needs some revamping. I am likely going to take it from him and get some mods done.

That being said, we need to replace it and would like some opinions on the Sea Uchin vs the Black Monster. I have had an orange monster for about 10 years as well and have been very pleased with it. I really like the look of the Sea Urchin but am a little apprehensive and it doesn't seem like quite as good of a watch (lack of screw down crown, etc).

Looks like the Monster will cost close to $200 and the Urchin about $40 less. From an aesthetics standpoint, the Urchin looks better to me, is it worth it to sacrifice a little quality for looks? Will I (he) regret it? He will be swimming in the lake with it, but will probably leave it behind when diving.

Similar question, is there a difference between the SNZF17 and SNZH55?

I had the H55 and it was a great watch.

The H55 are not easy to find, I see that they are discontinued.

I ordered a black monster and a Sea Urchin, I'll see which one works (free returns on amazon!). Although, there is a good chance that neither gets sent back.

I like that depending on age can sorta see your dad with the urchin and you with the monster .. they are both nice watches so you ant going to go wrong with either
