Thread: Chairs!

    Chairs!

I've decided to get a new chair for my study. I'm thinking of one of those hyper-ergonomic jobbies used by people in very nice offices. I've never worked in an office and so I'm largely clueless. Naturally, I expected the internet to give me a swift answer, but boy was I wrong. Just like watches, razors, pipes and lighters, there's a world of insanity out there if you open the right door. In fact until a couple of hours ago, I didn't even realise that the chair I'm looking for is a task chair.

So what do I know? Well, the Sub or Speedmaster of the Task Chair world is (probably) this:

    http://www.hermanmiller.co.uk/produc...on-chairs.html

And it's clearly very nice. However, two that I really like the look of are:

    The Diffrient World Chair

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4LH_JHS0SY

    and the Knoll life

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kVB81JfSfw

Simply because they just appear tidy and uncluttered.

However, this seems to be one of those areas in which experience trumps any amount of internet search and I bet there's a few here who have experience of the world of the high end task chair

I tend not to make my chair too comfortable or you end up sitting on it for too long - go and sit on a few in Staples etc and try them.

There's even a Bremont style chair:

It's new and it's funky and it's full of novel twists and innovative materials:

I confess that I'm surprised at the lack of task chair love, these things are incredible chunks of high end design!

(or was it my use of the words 'right rock'? I've changed it to 'right door' just in case!)

I used to sit in the Herman Miller I did not find it comfortable at all. The outer edge is a hard plastic. Your other two options seem more up my alley.

Well, after a bit more research and a chat with a couple of friends who earn far too much money sitting around, I've plumped for the Bremont in polished aluminium and black, partially because I love the idea of a chair that accommodates more positions than a yoga instructor could throw at it, partially because you can never go wrong with polished aluminium and black and partially because some computer shop in Wembley accepted my low ball offer for a chair that should cost half the price of a bloody Bremont.

    This one:

    I'll shut up now.

Check out Ikea, they have some comfortable office chairs at reasonable prices.

If you come to a fork in the road; take it, and then put it down so someone else can use it.

However, as I'm not in the habit of trying to pull one g sideways while typing (although come to think of it, it suddenly sounds like a helpful capability!) there's only one place I'd want full size recaro seats...
