    At last! identified the Rolex of my dreams

    Ref. 1002

    No numerals
    plain indices
    No date
    34mm plain case
    Baton hands
    chronometer movement

    Shove it on a brown strap

    Just need to work out how to chisel that crown off the dial

    Would probably be best to find one in a less pristine condition so wouldn't feel the urge to baby it. Here we go, one of these....

    34mm is my bottom end. 36mm would be just as good. But its smallness, its not-getting-in-the-way-ness, is part of the appeal.

    That's very nice. Would a Tudor Prince scratch the itch for less? I'm sure they have some similar models and no pesky crown

    It will have a shield (or a rose) not a coronet. <It isn't a crown on the Rolex either...

    This wasn't so much about finding a watch to tick some boxes, more that I was pleased to find a Rolex that I had a genuine appetite for
