    Etsy

I'm in the process of painting the interior of my house and have found some extra wall space that needs filling. I've got some original artworks from family members, but thought I'd add some stuff from anonymous strangers off the internet as well. Why the hell not, right?

I turned to etsy, and was pleasantly surprised at what I found. I'm not ready to shell out the cash for originals, but did pick out some charming prints. I have whimisical tastes and decided to indulge them for my hallway wall:

I know we've already got a "what's on your walls" thread so I'll ask instead--Do you etsy? Have you found anything different, interesting, or unexpected there?

I like the last 3 , a bit meh on the 1st though.

That's the first time I've (just) been on Etsy and had to laugh at this (the actual purchase is the plans for a cardboard helmet you make yourself):

Thought he looked a bit of a knob, then I double laughed when I read this:

Please keep in mind that this helmet is something that you have made yourself, from cardboard and will not protect your head if you decided to do something stupid whilst wearing it.

I have bought a few things off Etsy.

A couple button stud strap from J Grants General Store https://www.etsy.com/shop/JGrantsGeneralStore
A watch strap from Eakin Street Studio https://www.etsy.com/shop/EakinStreetStudio
A leather watch vallet from The Wrist Fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheWristFund
A couple cards and a poster from this guy https://www.etsy.com/shop/sharpwriter

I've taken a look, but I can't recall ever actually buying anything from there. Although I believe the bag I have, White Buffalo Republic is sold in Etsy, I didn't buy it from there.

I've purchased a few of Madame Scodioli's Scented Balms. And added a T-shirt for good measure, people just stare at that awesome bearded lady.

I saw Jeannie's title and hoped that it was about Etsy filing for an IPO.

Despite a revenue of $195M, they had a loss of $15M last year (up from a loss of a mere $800K in 2013).

Anyway, I think as Etsy's board and co-founders state, the "authenticity" of the brand will likely diminish with an IPO. Let's see where that leaves us.

To invest or not to invest. That is the question.

I dig the rorschach-esque cat as well as the woodpecker. Perhaps my most prized piece of artwork is an original of a bird (cardinal) done in a similar style. I'm not a birdwatcher, but I really enjoy artistic renditions of birds for some reason.

Re: etsy. The only thing I've ever purchased are custom milled brass arbors for my strapmaking. I did sell on etsy for a few years, but cancelled my store. I have less time than ever now, and there were times when I could hardly keep up even with lots of spare time, and it wasn't fun. I don't know if it was my segment or just etsy in general, but it would come and go in frustrating waves. Nothing for a month and then 45 requests in 2 weeks. Went on like that for some time. It's a hobby more than anything else, I hated when it would become a chore.
It is now my duty to completely drain you.
