Thread: Sorry for my outburst today

  1. #1

    Sorry for my outburst today

I want to apologize to the community.

I've been on the receiving end of much worse. What was tossed at me today was mild and innocuous and I escalated things tremendously.

I need to find a middle ground. I was out of line.

    Sorry all.

    Gary

I see where I just hit my hundredth post and I think I have only pissed off a couple of people. So, I figure that's pretty good... 2%... kinda.

I have found that some people just like to hear themselves typing.

If we were all sitting in a bar and this situation had gone down, it would have been over in a second, with a wink, a backslap here and there, and another round of Old Fashioneds or Fluffy Ducks.
However, we all know that 'tone' is the first casualty on internet forums.
Although, I usually get on forums to get away from the Eastwoods and Einsteins that exist out there. I've had jibes directed at me in the past. Some I played along with, some I ignored and, like you, I'll need to decide on how I handle them in future on a case-by-case basis.
In the interests of keeping the peace, though, I usually just switch off the computer and walk away for the day. Works wonders for me.
Sometimes, though, a little bit of emoticon goes a long way.

AFAIC, no apology necessary, Gary, but it's nice of you all the same. Enjoy the watch.

Sounds like you had the kind of day that I had at work, complete with overzealous discussions and subsequent apologies. Everybody has a bad one once in a while, hopefully we learn from them.
