    How I learned to stop worrying and love the scratches

    After 3 months of making a conscious attempt at keeping my new watch pristine, it's acquired its first scratches to the clasp which made contact against the airline seatbelt buckle on my flight today.

    Well it was inevitable. After the initial arrgh... It now feels truly worn, and not new, which I think actually aids the bonding process... It's now my watch. However I'm still making an effort to avoid scratches on the watch head, which I suspect may upset me more...

    What kind of watch? I don't mind scratching my omega as its a do it all piece, but don't want to scratch my dress watches...

    I've actually scratched something a few weeks back, BEFORE I even handled it !!!

    Beat that !


    (lots of) Bubble-wrap , seriously wrapped round (and taped to f*$% ! ) a brand new pair of swiss (expensive) tweezer oblique cutters for work, so I thought stanley knife ................

    put a nick/line in the beautifully satin brushed side

    If I can be bothered I'll post a pic tomorrow.

    It's Grand Seiko. It's super shiny, so scratches show up, although you still need to look up close.

    Been there, done that, a long time ago. I remember the days of worrying about that first scratch, ding, whack on the door frame. Then I realized there's a lot more to worry about in life than scratched watches, and it all went away. It also helps to learn how to repair scratches and dings, too.

    Reminds me of a few crazy people I've met who clean their car _every_ day. It's outside. It's supposed to get dirty!
