Thread: A 'smart' Omega?

    A 'smart' Omega?

Seems Swatch is set to turn some of its watches smart(ish). What do you think of an Omega you can use to pay your restaurant bill?

Edit: this is actual watch talk, I guess, so I will allow on this occasion the mods to move it to the other forum. You are welcome.

Everyone is getting very edgy abouth the imopact of the Smart watch now. I wouldn't be forking out thousands for an Omega which may have technology that will be out of date in very little time though.

No thank you. I think CamB said it best.

Apple is in the consumer electronics market. Their products go obsolete by design. In contrast, I hope my grandchildren wear my Omega and my grandfather's Patek.

This is a strategy doomed to fail.

There's no mention of Omega in the article, though - just Swatch Group.

If I were them, I think I'd be putting my toe in the smart water too - initially with Swatch.

My Omega tells me the right time whenever I want, with no button pushing or advance notice required: that's pretty darn smart.
It is now my duty to completely drain you.

It was in a caption for a pic and not in main text. Easily missed.

NFC? My past 3 phones all had it - never once used it.
