Saw a podcast with Andy Katz and Scott Barnes. Mr. Barnes said they gave Duke a #1 seed due to quality road wins that couldn't be ignored (Wisconsin, Louisville, Virginia). Murray State stayed on the board all week and in the end got taken down due to weaker schedule and no marquee wins.

Old but Crafty
Duke got a great draw and path to at least the elite 8.
Contrast that with what may await Kansas:
Round of 64 vs arguably the most underseeded team in this century.
Round of 32 vs the Shockers - as tough a small college team in the Tournament and Wichita State will be motivated for sure.
Round of 16 vs Notre Dame - top 10 and ACC champion.
Round of 8 against (wait for it) Kentucky.
I know Kansas had the toughest schedule of any big time program but oy...can't see it happening this year for them.

Cliff Alexander isn't coming back anytime soon either.

I'm a Syracuse fan. ::hangs head in shame::
Would love to see Buffalo (my Alma mater) or Albany win one.

My thing is to latch onto the mid-majors who are doing well. The powerhouse "one and done" teams aren't my cup of tea.

I've got real issues with the way this situation has been handled. I recognize the ban on post season play was a pre-emptive move by the school in an effort to ameliorate the NCAA punitive measures, but I'm struggling to understand how it's remotely fair to punish current players for violations that occurred well before they were part of the program, in fact before they even committed to the program.
Punish the administration and the coaching staff, but leave the kids alone.
It's ridiculous to me that a player like Rakeem Christmas had to end his college career on this note. He should have had an opportunity to compete in the ACC tournament, playing on a big stage in front of lots of people, including NBA scouts. He and his teammates should have been given the chance to go to the NCAA. There is no evidence I am aware of that Christmas or any other current Syracuse player has been involved in any fraud.
The school and the NCAA are playing politics and these young men have been caught in the middle.
I am absolutely not excusing the types of academic scandals that have occurred at schools like Syracuse and UNC and probably scores of others as well. People need to be held accountable for what they did and didn't do. But people should not be held accountable for stuff others did and didn't do when they were not even affiliated with the individuals involved.
On a related note, looks like Boeheim has had enough: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask...s-syracuses-ad
Or perhaps Syracuse has had enough of Boeheim. I don't know enough about the situation to say.
