    Colour No-no’s

Anyone else got watch colours that they just won’t wear?
    I have
    Won’t wear green or yellow

.. except that I have. Repeatedly

    Green
The Alpinist and all those ‘Kermit’ dials
Just wrong. I’d never wear a green watch

    Errrm..

Faceted 5606 Lord Marvel from 1975

    Arabic dial Zim

    60s Volna

    And, tbf

    Momentum Atlas

I only realised I’d had any/ this many when I was posting pics of the Lord Marvel elsewhere. Then kept finding more pics
(I had a hard drive crash 3yrs ago, so I’m always surprising myself coming across pics of my old watches)

But yellow. Surely I’ve never had one of them?

    Actually yep

Chaika Medical. The gold cased ones all came with a pale yellow dial

    So how about you?
Any colours you definitely don’t do?
And any that you’ve changed your mind on, and warmed to?

*The grocer’s apostrophe in the thread title was autocorrect not me, honest!

I have a brown Nivrel ..... and that's as far as I'll wander from black or white/silver (I do like the brown though a lot)

I've learned this hobby can change our perception and our tastes, but so far I've been away from green, red and yellow and I'm - gradually - feeling a stronger dislike for severely textured dials and exuberant sunburst. But tastes change.

    Gold hardware/accents, no, thank you.
    Blue dials, no, thank you.
White dials, they tend to flash up my wrist and I don't like it, but I've seen a few I wouldn't mind wearing.
Now that Seriously mentioned brown, I'm not a fan of the colour and I don't think it would go well with me, either.

(Actually if I'm working on anything magnetic , all watches are off)

Maybe you misread ? - It goes down well with me
Actually when I ordered, I just liked it in the photo's, had already bought Nivrel before so I took a punt on it , and loved it when received.

No, no, the 'either' referred to my other no-no colours, not you.

    Hmm
Brown has never occurred to me as a watch colour
Nice Nivrel, but not for me, I think
It’d look as if I was trying to match my eye colour in a slightly weird way :-)

    Yes, tastes definitely change
At one point my collection was all about the sunburst, with this Poljot Alarm at the apogee

A *graduated* sunburst was unusual when I got this 5yrs ago - now with vintage reissue fever they’ve had a moment :-)
