    Random watch thread 2

As a wind-up merchant, I’ve noticed the use of *mechanical* in a few places

Perhaps in a non-WIS market (eg the military buffs who might go for these W10s) *hand- wind* or *manual-wind* are less clear to people?

Certainly a lot of WIS use *automatic* as the default for *non-quartz*:

My O&W had a spurious one, and a phoney NSN (NATO stock number)
This was never an issue watch, just 36 made (18 with arabics, 18 sticks)

It didn’t sit well with me, and was one of the reasons I let it go
There’s a sniff of stolen valour about that, for me

I can half remember a story of Eddie Platts asking Albert Wajs how many watches he had supplied to the military. ‘None’ was the reply, and I think Wajs was almost surprised to be asked.

yes I know asian ones are clones just wanted some more back history like unitas became eta etc etc and how quality is plus is it worth going from a 6497 to a st36 skeleton instead .
