Ebel Easter sale at Movado - Voyager World Timer

2 associates from different Movado Company Stores called me to tell me about their Easter sale on Ebels. Moreover, they just received the Ebel Voyager World Timer (model 1214024 white dial steel case, SS bracelet) from Switzerland.

This is a basic three-hander with quickset date, powered by ETA 2824 movement (Ebel Cal 124). A bidirectional outer bezel has the names of cities to designate the time zones. To set it to local time, you rotate the outer bezel until the city in your time zone lines (ironically, for me in Boston that would be New York) lines up to 12 o'clock. What makes this watch interesting is the inner bezel/chapter ring rotates counter-clockwise, opposite to the movement of the hands, thus continually indicating the time in each time zone. This chapter ring has one half white and the other black to indicate day and night. Confused? Here's a poorly-shot but informative video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0U0xtI0kmo

I have bought one of these but the other is still available as far as I know. $876 + tax + shipping. PM me if you are interested in the contact info for the store.

Thanks JP. The hands are small but it is a small dial, so the hands are proportional. The hour hand grazes the hour markers and both the minute and second hands reach the minute track, as they should.

I think Ebel did a nice job with the available real estate on this watch. It is only 40 mm diameter and it has a wide bezel to make the city names legible (after all, this is the primary function of a worldtimer) and the rotating chapter ring. The dial itself is about 20 mm but despite this it is very clean and uncluttered. I think this is due to the stick markers except at 6, 9 and 12 (date, no numeral at 3). They made a version with Roman numerals all round (except at 3) which I think looks too busy.
