Do democracies lead to faster economic growth?

Professor Yasheng Huang of MIT Sloan speaks on the relationship between democracy and economic performance.

"For every China, there are 3 or 4 countries that have failed fantastically. It is very important when we draw policy implications, we don't just look at a few successful countries. We also need to look at other countries that are also authoritarian that have failed miserably."

It's not democracies per se. Look at Greece, Italy, Portugal, etc. They are democracies in name only. True democracies have a majority of countrymen on board, everyone plays by the rules; pays their taxes and tries to work, not being a burden on their society, unless they are unable to contribute. Then you have a chance at economic growth.

If you come to a fork in the road; take it, and then put it down so someone else can use it.
