The show must be quite different than the books. Have not yet bothered with the show, but am amused enough by the books to work through them. About to start #5, and while they can be... Interesting at times, they don't lower to shock value. The brutal bits are restrained without missing required detail, and the real horrors are accounted for rather than narrated; you're aware, but saved the gruesome detail.
It is now my duty to completely drain you.

Game of Thrones is a bit too gleeful in the way it portrays the abuse of the women. The argument is that the show is being realistic, but the scenes are played with an eye to titilation.

Just saw it. Pretty fricking intense. Good fun, but not a great film.
