Haha, Congrats Chuck. Also congrats on your retirement. I was a volunteer for 15 years and it beat my body up so bad I had to give it up. Really it was that 1 time that I had to jump out of a 2nd floor window and roll down the ladder when it flashed on us. But that's another story for another time.

Did you recognize the changing conditions and feel the heat buildup soon enough to know trouble was coming?

Actually I saw the smoke start to drop. And from flashover training I saw that this was a sign and I grabbed my partner and ran for the window. Thank God for training.
