Visit to Bremont NYC Boutique
I was on a business trip to NYC recently, and, during a couple of hours I had to myself, I decided to drop by the Bremont boutique. Having heard a lot about Bremont's watches, and seen them in photos, I had never actually seen one in person -- so thought I would take advantage of the opportunity.
The NYC Boutique is very nice. It is well laid out, and is classy while retaining a comfortable and informal feel. I was the only one in the Boutique during my visit, and the manager could not have been nicer -- engaging and extremely well-informed.
I'll cut to the chase -- I am really impressed with Bremont's watches. They have a rugged feel, and look great -- it's an appealing combo. Modified ETA movements that are all COSC certified. (I am totally OK with that ).
I had always been attracted to the green version of the Supermarine, so tried one on. (This particular model is being discontinued, however)...
Reallly loved this one in person. It also featured one of the most comfortable straps I have ever had on my wrist...
Another one I had to try on was the Alt1-C, which had always caught my attention. Like the bi-compax layout and cream-colored dial...
The Alt1-WT is another I had to try on, after having admired it on the Bremont website. Gorgeous blue dial...
But, the one I really wanted to see, was the Alt1-ZT/51. I like the combination of a chronograph that also has GMT functionality, and I find this model extremely appealing...
The hardened stainless steel on Bremont's models is a plus, in terms of something that will stand up to some rugged use. I also wondered how I would react to the Trip-Tick case. Gotta say, I think it looks great, and provides a different and cool look. What was an especially nice surprise was the functioning of the Roto-Click internal bezel. Absolutely beautiful, silky smooth operation -- very impressive...
All of this was accomplished in leisurely fashion -- we sat in overstuffed armchairs shooting the breeze about Bremont generally, as well as discussing particular models.
I really enjoyed my experience at the Boutique, and came away quite favorably impressed with the watches themselves. That Alt1-ZT/51 may be calling my name...

Bremont seems to make some very nice pieces (I've never seen one in person); I do have trouble getting over the "let's put a piece of [fill in famous vehicle here] in the watch and charge five figures for it" philosophy of some of their models.

The Super Marine is also my favorite Bremont model when on the rubber strap. Happy to hear the visit to the boutique was enjoyable.
Cheers,
Michael
Tell everyone you saw it on IWL!

Yes, but I STILL want the Victory!
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Thank you very much for the detailed report. I always avoided commenting on Bremont, because I never had the chance to handle any of their models. Your opinions were - as always - very helpful.
