Thanks, Todd. The cufflinks were from an estate sale. They are sterling silver and were made by Hickok in the mid 1940's and are now over 70 years old. They are exact replicas of the famous Wright "Cyclone" engine. The original Cyclones underwent design work in 1938 and featured 7 cylinders (R-1300) like the cufflinks. Later Cyclones were 9, 14 or 18 cylinders (R-1820, R-2600 Twin Cyclone, R-3350 Duplex Cyclone). Three noteworthy aircraft powered by the Cyclone 7 are the North American T-28A military trainer, the Sikorsky S-55 helicopter, and the U. S. Navy N Class non-rigid airship. The later larger displacement versions with more cylinders powered many other famous aircraft including the B-17, B-25, B-29 and even the Lockheed Constellation. I really enjoy wearing these cufflinks and it's amazing how many favorable comments they attract, in fact, more than all the comments about my watches, combined. Here's another shot of them with the Bomber...
Best,
Ron
