The ZO9274 sports a clean silver tone dial and a bright blue bezel that recalls the type of ocean water you primarily see in nature documentaries ó itís truly brilliant and bright, and gives the watch an immediate and tropical vibe. The whole piece has a fairly minimalist aesthetic. Thereís exactly one Arabic numeral on the watch, a 30 on the dive bezel, giving what is in reality a fashion forward beach watch just the right amount of utilitarian appeal. An orange minute hand adds some color contrast, and fat indices at 12, 3, 6, and 9 are generously coated in lume, making for what is sure to be a highly visible and legible watch in a variety of lighting conditions. Itís all finished off with a jubilee style five-link bracelet, which adds a slightly incongruous and charming touch of formality to the classic dive watch look.

The ZO9275 is, at first glance, merely in the inverse of the ZO9274, but it has a few key differences in the small details. Most obvious, the colorway is changed up ó we now have a sunburst-blue dial with accents in white, and a black bezel with some subtle red contrast to match the red minute hand. Speaking of those hands, a close inspection reveals a completely different handset. The ZO9275ís hands lack the ďbulbĒ at the end of each, giving them a more refined and traditional appearance. Dial furniture has changed slightly as well, with indices more closely matched in size at each hour marker. A date window has also been incorporated at 3. The ZO9275 is mounted on a tropic style rubber strap.
Zodiac tells us these watches were inspired by the book, Blue Mind: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better at What You Do. Itís certainly not late breaking news to many that being near the ocean or some other body of water has intangible benefits, and I kind of like the idea that Zodiac has made a deliberate attempt to recreate that whenever we check the time.
