Earlier today, the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team got the New York City victory parade they deserved after beating the Netherlands on Sunday to earn their record fourth (yes, fourth) World Cup title. There have only been eight women's World Cups and the United States has somehow managed to hoist the trophy at half of them. If you somehow managed to miss their epic run through the tournament, there are plenty of clips you should go watch online after you're done reading this. Seriously, you won't regret it.
A linchpin of the U.S. team's offense is Alex Morgan. She scored the game-winning goal in the semifinal match against the U.K. in this year's tournament and was a member of the 2011 and 2015 World Cup teams, as well as the 2012 and 2016 Olympic teams. The California native is also a nominee for Best Female Athlete at tonight's ESPY Awards, so there might be more for her to celebrate soon. And, at this morning's parade, she was rocking a bright blue Hublot Big Bang as she celebrated with her teammates.*
The particularly Big Bang Morgan was rocking is one that you don't see very often. When you hear "Big Bang" you most likely think of an oversized chronograph however, this is a simple time-and-date model in a more modest 39mm stainless steel case. There are blue accents throughout, from the mid-case to the dial to the strap, and the bezel is set with 42 brilliant cut diamonds. The big, luminous Arabic numerals give this watch a slightly sportier look than the similar Classic Fusion pieces, which also have smaller diamonds in the bezel and no quick-change strap system. It looks like Morgan has opted for a blue rubber strap too, a perfect choice for a muggy summer day in New York City. The watch has a retail price of $15,100 and is part of the standard Big Bang collection (ie, it's not a limited edition).
Congrats to Alex Morgan and the entire U.S. Women's National Soccer Team here's hoping we'll have an excuse for another watch spotting in four years!
