The Bauhaus school was founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius in Dessau, Germany. Perhaps the most influential school of art, design, and craft in the 20th century, the school aimed to unite the areas of study in a new approach under the guiding principle of “form follows function.” The result was a generation of artists, architects, and designers who redefined their disciplines. One example of a student of the Bauhaus whose work exemplifies the school’s interdisciplinary methods was Max Bill, the famed designer of Junghan’s most iconic watches.
