Yeah, I can't stand any of the reality TV craze. It seems like they come out with a new show on the most mundane topics, and then over dramatically act it.
I miss good, well written sitcoms, like Arrested Development.

4 wasn't bad, it was just missing the chemistry because the actors couldn't be together.

Man vs Wilderness: Longmire - check. Justified - check (albeit less traditionally with the mine theme than Longmire's more common bad weather, harsh landscape)
Rugged individualist who struggles with displacement in a world that has moved past him: Longmire - check (doesn't carry a cellphone, relies less on technology than other LEOs). Justified (wears a cowboy hat, practices old west brand of justice)
Nomadic / semi-nomadic: Longmire - no. Justified - no.
Failure of establishment forcing hero to resort to his own brand of justice and / or buck the system: Longmire - check. Justified - check.
Moral ambiguity: Longmire - check. Justified - check.
Fights to contain the barbarians but struggles not to become one: Longmire - check. Justified - check.
Longmire is a classic revisionist western in its sympathetic portrayal of Native Americans. Justified doesn't have them. Longmire also has ranchers and cowboys. Justified has miners.
Geography: Longmire - Wyoming (a western state). Justified - Kentucky (a southern state).
FWIW, I would also classify Breaking Bad (what little I've seen of it) as a modern western as well.
Firefly probably contains more traditional western elements than any of the others.

Okay, so it's a western. But it's still bad.

Maybe... But it still wasn't near as good as the preceding 3.

It wasn't meant as a political statement as much as an accuracy one. Yes, the news media is largely biased and inaccurate, but some of the statements made relative to scientifically proven topics that they counter on Fox just blow me away with their ignorance.

They make a lot of inaccurate financial statements as well. But then so does everyone else. I despise to hear people who have no clue how financial matters work trying to argue knowledgeably about money.

I'm with you, jeannie! There seems to be a lot of people talking about many things that they don't know about in the media....and with authority!

Old but Crafty
For me it's all the HGTV and house flipping stuff. Real estate obsession is still a big thing in Canada especially in places like Toronto and Vancouver. I can't understand how people would lever themselves 20/1 to buy a house and get something at 10X their income.
