Hull Meca Quartz Chronograph

Measuring 42mm across, the Hull Chronograph features a familiar cushion case design crafted out of 316L stainless steel. Inside that case is a tried-and-true Seiko VK 73 Series Meca Quartz movement, a caliber that offers classic chronograph functionality and a big-date function right below 12:00 on the dial.
Speaking of the dial, it’s a sandwich construction: up top is a textured, fumé surface with cutouts that reveal a lower level coated in Super-LumiNova. The hands are brushed, which adds to the dimensionality and texture on the face of the watch, and altogether the aesthetic looks dynamic and modern with a touch of retro-cool. There are three color variants: Black, Dark Green, and Blue.












Additional specs include a mineral crystal coated in sapphire, a brushed tachymeter bezel, and a screw down crown and pushers. The watch comes paired with a leather strap.
Gear Patrol
This Ford Mustang Is the Most Famous Ever Made, and It Will Be Auctioned

The legendary Highland Green Mustang famously driven by the late and great Steve McQueen in the film, “Bullit,” is about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The car was purchased by Robert Kiernan in 1974, who kept it until his death, even refusing to sell it back to McQueen himself. Mecum is organizing the auction, and they expect to fetch quite the pretty penny for it. The most expensive Mustang on the auction block was a ’67 GT500 Super Snake that sold for $2.2 million, and Mecum estimates this one will land well beyond that.

Safe Deposit Boxes Aren’t Safe

The crew over at Hodinkee shared this article from The New York Times some weeks back, and it’s still hard to swallow. It tells the story of watch collector Philip Poniz and his unfortunate experience with an “unsafe” deposit box. Mr. Poniz, a lifelong watch *enthusiast, needed a safe space to stash his watches after moving from Colorado to New Jersey. And what’s safer than a safe deposit box at a bank, right? Well, as Mr. Poniz would tell you today, plenty. In 2014, he went to retrieve some things from one of his safe deposit boxes only to discover it was completely empty. To add insult to injury, he had very little legal recourse.
