    Auction pick up

I missed out on a nice large landscape oil painting at an auction Sat. but I did pick up a 2 pc. lot for almost nothing.
Both amature pieces but worth hanging somewhere in the house to fill wall space.

First is a large acrylic, 36" X 24" of a seaport. It caught my eye because it looks like it could be Mystic Seaport, Connecticut.

Second is a small oil, 9" X 7" of a seine net trawler sitting at the pier.

Pretty cool. Nice pictures - that's what art should be about. It isn't usually..

Yeah, it reminds me of where I grew up. There were still fish shacks like yhat.
The top 2/3 of the painting is very muted, but the blue in the water and red net drying in the bottom 3rd really draws the eye.
The blue is a bit brighter in real.

Love the 2nd one. I'd hang both on my wall. Good pickups.

Yes, nice composition and colour in the second one.

The first one does look a bit amateurish in comparison, especially with the pole cutting the picture in half.
