Thread: Bye bye, Tapatalk

    Bye bye, Tapatalk

I’m jettisoning it. Here’s the email I just sent them, for your amusement:

Just wanted to say congratulations, you’ve finally made the free version so obnoxious that I’m giving up on Tapatalk. The forced five second ads were bad enough, but the last straw was the one that hijacks your browser to sell you something (I don’t even know what, I wouldn’t let it load, since it comes across as a possible virus).

Also, given that only one of the forums I’m on is still on your platform, I can’t justify paying to get rid of the ads, even if I wanted to stay.

    Well done, and goodbye.

So, back to posting through my phone’s browser, which sucks, but I can’t take it any more…

I never tried it, but threads of late make it sound terrible

Initially, when I bought it, I got in on the similar deal that gave me the new ad version for lifetime for like five dollars. So far they honored it so I keep using it on my mobile devices.

So weird, no ads here and I'm on the non pro one. Like I say though maybe it's an android thing.

Sorry that you have to use the desktop version - not sure I could cope with that myself

It’s fine on an iPad, which is the only way I access the forum. I wouldn’t think of visiting forums or blogs on a phone - too tiny.

I post WRUW threads with TapaTalk, but I do everything else on a laptop/desktop. Posting pics on TapaTalk has become annoying. Several more clicks to make.
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

I'm laptop only here. I tend to use my phone as a phone or text device, or maps when necessary. I can imagine the frustration, and thank goodness IWL has managed to stay ad-free. Perhaps it's time to make another watch-sale donation thread, to make sure we can stay that way. I might have one to donate, come to think of it...
Too many watches, not enough wrists.
