    Nomos Question

So, Nomos has finally wormed into my brain. But I have a question. Why is the Club Campus Neomatik 39 around double the price of the Club Campus 38? I know the Neomatik is auto and 1.5mm larger, but it's also $400 more than the Club Automatic 40mm.

    Campus 38:

Club Automatic (also, does this not have lume?):

    Club Neomatik 39:

Also, any other Nomos models I should look at? Mind you, I won't do anything under 38mm and I won't get something with a date.

First of all, those do have lume, just not a whole lot. The reddish lume is not exactly something you would spot across the room. I really like the brighter color scheme of that watch though. Indeed the price difference is due to the Neomatic movement, for which they charge quite a premium. Alas, not all of their models come in a no-date version, and that has been driving me just a bit crazy lately. If I were to buy another Nomos, it definitely would not have a date.

I really like my Ludwig, even though it has their old non-quickset date (a demerit, for sure) and at 40mm it looks more like 42-44 on my wrist, because it's all dial. Nomos watches wear much larger than you would think, although maybe not so much the case with the Club, because it has a wider bezel.

If they ever make a 39mm Lambda in SS instead of gold, I will be sorely tempted. Just sayin'

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Funny I have recently been checking out the Club models and I didn't realize they have so many now... Still not sure how I feel about the long lugs on these. Love to see one in person.

Pricing is probably demand driven and strategic. Nomos likes to majorly upcharge for options.

A Club with sapphire display back is a $350 CAD extra cost on their site. Date vs non date is ~$900 CAD.

Price: Make sure you’re not comparing solid back models with display back models. I’ve done that a few times.

Size/style: The models that have been upsized from 35mm originals don’t work that well for me. The sub-seconds dial moves to the centre and the design suffers. Any Nomos wears bigger than its dimensions suggest.

My recommendation is a Zurich, either the splendidly simple one or the Worldtimer. Both 40mm.

    Yup, all solid backs.

The Zurich is beautiful, but no lume makes it a little too dressy for me and 30m makes it not suitable for everyday. Plus, it's over $4,000....that's a bit much for something I wouldn't wear very often.

It is gorgeous, though. I will definitely keep that in mind if I want a full on dress watch. Dress pieces 5 times the price appeal the same amount, so this is a better choice.

What about the Ahoi. My buddy has the 40mm Atlantic (No date) and it's really nice.

Willam has one, too. One of my favorites.

The Ahoi is a looker for sure, but I think I like the Club better. Even if it sounds like a sandwich.

I like the AHOI a lot. For Nomos I'd have a hard time choosing between the Ahoi and the (Club 38 or 39). The Zurich world timer is a looker too.
