That one is sorted now - one single smd 12k resistor had gone open circuit. a single resistor (0805 package size - equates to a mere 2mm by 1.25mm) stopped this 15inch sub in its tracks !!

Took some finding - always got to expect the unexpected.
The skill is in finding it out of some 200 other resistors.
