For the third year in a row, Oris is doing its part to help promote menís health initiatives with the release of a limited edition Movember watch. The Movember Foundation, for those unaware, was founded in 2003 with the mission of helping men live healthier, longer lives through the advocacy of menís health issues, such as testicular and prostate cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. The foundation partners with celebrities and organizations across a range of industries, from sports to fashion and entertainment, and helps to raise money for menís health causes throughout the year. Each November, the foundation encourages supporters to grow a mustache over the course of the month to raise money for the many health related projects it backs all over the world. Itís a good cause, and if the increased prevalence of mustached faces during the month of November is any indication, the foundation seems to be doing a good job of getting the word out about menís health and starting a dialog.

In prior years, Oris has used their Divers 65 and Big Crown Pointer Date watches as Movember special editions, employing a classic and autumnal colorway that resembles classic gilt dialed timepieces. This year, the Chronoris gets the Movember treatment, and the visual impact is largely similar to previous efforts. The Chronoris, youíll recall, is a simple but charming throwback to sports watches of the 1970s, and despite the name, it isnít actually a chronograph. Rather, itís a basic three-hand (plus date) timepiece with an inner rotating bezel operated by one of the two crowns on the case flank. This particular version has a black dial with rose gold-plated hour and minutes hands. The seconds hand is a sporty orange, and the dial text and minutes track have a gold hue to them that complements the handset and gives the whole watch a warm, vintage-inspired feel.

Oris hasnít overdone it with the branding on this special edition ó itís subtle but also fun if you know where to look for it. The closed caseback reads ďOris Movember Edition,Ē but the real Easter egg here is the small Movember mustache logo on both sides of the leather strap, near the double stitch (the hardware on the included fabric strap has the same design). Although the menís health initiatives that are at the core of Movember are deeply important, there has always been a sense of fun about the Movember movement (large groups of guys growing mustaches for a month straight without shaving is inherently amusing) so this little touch feels appropriate on this watch.
The Movember edition Chronoris is available today, with a retail price of $2,000 on a leather strap, and $2,200 on a steel bracelet. Both versions come as gift sets in a special presentation box with a leather travel pouch, as well as the aforementioned red and white mil-strap. Oris
