Ever heard of it? It's the reason why Moore's Law doesn't always apply in tech matters.
Basically Wirth's Law states that software bloat can slow computers down faster than hardware advances can speed them up. A good example is my friend Lillian's new laptop. It has a quad core CPU but runs like a dog because she insisted on putting Norton Security 360 on it.
Not only does Norton 360 reduce performance, it occasionally won't run a scan because Lillian hasn't updated the AV datafiles - this drives her crazy because she thinks there is an army of hackers running around Almonte trying to steal her Facebook data. I had a bunch of phone calls about this yesterday. After she let Norton update, it worked fine - or as well as it ever does.
I'm thinking of getting an unlisted number.
