    Zodiac SSW Topper - dead

Cooking with the wife over the weekend, I look down at my watch and realize it's 10-15 minutes slow and it has stopped running. Shake it a bit, nothing. Unscrew the crown, give a couple winds, nothing. Spin the hands around, still nothing.

I held the watch to my ear and shook it, there's a noticeable rattle. Uh oh.

Has anyone used Fossil/Zodiac factory service? I'm assuming my local dude will charge me $100-ish to sort it. Wondering if it's worth it to send it in or just have it done locally.

Wouldn’t it still be under warranty (assuming you didn’t bash it on something)?

I assume it's under warranty. The watch was not hit on anything, there are no marks on the case.

I've read nightmares from people using lower end factory service - physical damage to watches, months of waiting, poor communication, problems not resolved the first time. If Fossil is like that, I'll just spend a few dollars myself to avoid the potential hassle. It's $20-25 to ship the watch, so that makes my local guy even more attractive. Can independent watchmakers get parts for STP movements?

Hmm. You could call Rob at Toppers—he might have some experience with their service.

I've used them before. They are based out of Texas I believe. I had no issues.
    Cheers,

    Hoping it's something simple.

I hope it's a little thing that is easily and readily fixed. I'm thinking happy thoughts for you. And the watch.
