    Replacement for an ST16

A friend of mine gifted his son a watch that has a ST16 movement. Sadly, the son managed to break the movement. My friend tried to find a source for a spare ST16 movement, but has not been able to do so. So I am asking the following of the group:
    • Anyone know of a source for an ST16 that can be purchased from the US?
    • Would perhaps the ST1612 be used?
    • Could a Miyota 8215 be used?

    Thank you for your time!

    Dan

their was some threads a while back on wus and think was it wtf forums on conversion between the movement you mentioned don't think they do think case size was a match to one of them but the hand still needed to be swap too and dials was not a match so would need to be glued spotted

it's not one of the movement's I use much think it was they was a bit tricky to get hold of maybe but honest can't remember why I choose not to use them .

the st 16 and the st 1612 that was something mentioned in a thread too but can't remember if was just the codes different and they are just sound similar enough or that they was the same movement just coded different will try and find the thread.

did think dinman would know as he looked in to movement's for his project maybe just ant seen the thread yet

found this so if am reading right then the same ?

Cal. ST1612, produced by Tianjin Seagull Corporation, is an automatic movement with a central date wheel. The design is similar to the Miyota 8215 and it uses a bi-directional winding mechanism similar to Seiko’s Magic Lever. The movement is roughly finished by the factory, with no engravings or stampings to identify it.
Cal. ST16 is also known as TY2806 when sold by directly by Tianjin.
Cal. ST1612/TY2806 is used by a number of companies, including Android, Fossil, Hager, Ingersoll, Rotary, and Zodiac. It was the basis for the Claro CL-888, re-manufactured in Switzerland to be sold as Swiss Made.

Thanks! He has gone ahead and ordered a TY2806 so I will keep you posted as to what happens. He is looking forward to giving his son back a working watch.

    All the best,

He said he was able to get it for less than 40USD, so he should be OK. Once he gets it, he will get a local to make the switch. He said he would keep me posted.

An update. It seems like a TY2806 is not a good fit due to the subseconds dial? Here are some pics of the dial and movement.

Any idea as to what that movement could be replaced with?

    Many thanks!
