Help me find an Explorer
Congrats again on your first Rolex. Some tag negative connotations to that name which are not really founded. There is a reason it is the brand most given or sought after for an achievement or milestone event. It is simply the best there is. Remember that.
My first came when I achieved my cuttersmen pin in the Coast Guard. It meant that I had met all the qualifications, sea time and other requirements to be an officer of the watch. That phase of my life passed and after 12 years I let it go. While it may be a bit of time down the road to retirement, I find myself more each day in reflection of the past. I want to get back a bit of the past in a new way. I’m really hoping that this years Basel event finds Rolex announcing a blue dial and bezel version of the gold and steel Sea-Dweller. Like me it has grown a bit from the Submariner of my youth. It would be the perfect reconnection to that time. I remembered, just this last weekend, what the significance of the TT sub was. I don’t know why I forgot that. It’s time to get that back. If that does not happen then I’ll get the sub.
The other watch I need to get back is the newer Air King. As some of you know I went through a tough time in 2017 suffering a heart attack and the bypass surgery as a result. This actually turned out to be the easy part. Four days after being release I was back in the hospital for over a month because of blood clots in my lunges. When I finally got out and was cleared to drive again I went to see an Air King my doctor told me about. I actually went to the store three times before I bought it. I sold it to a friend about a year later. Over the weekend I remember this marked one of my milestones recently. I called the friend and we worked out a deal to get it back. It may be a bit since she is traveling so we’ll be reunited at some point.
Remember this day well my forum friend and welcome to the club. You now own a Rolex.

Looks great. One of my favourite Rolex. In fact, one of my favourite watches. So versatile. So well balanced. So unerstated and classy. If somebody wanted only one watch, this would be the ideal candidate.
I very nearly bought one a few years back. I only faltered because it was just too similar in too many ways to my no date Sub. I would probably choose those over the newer Sub if anything ever happened to my 14060M.
Congrats!

While I find the concept of only one watch to be blasphemy, this would probably be it if I could only have one. The Explorer and an Ironman or G-Shock.

It's the money part I'm having the issue with. But I do accept gifts.

Assuming the clock feature on my phone is accurate, the Explorer is +1 second over four days.
