Here’s another black edition from Carl F. Bucherer, who you might remember released their BLACK MANTA Special Edition last summer –

as well as the lesser known one of kind blacked-out ScubaTec STEALTH EDITION worn by Sly Stallone in RAMBO Last Blood.

Sly’s ScubaTec and the Black Manta Special Edition were the inspiration for the striking design of the new ScubaTec Black, which will be available as of April 2020.

The ScubaTec Black is based on the regular ScubaTec so has a water-resistance to 500 meters and is certified chronometer.

Further diver’s features include: a screw-down crown and automatic Helium Release Valve.

The ScubaTec Black features an ultra-light 44.6mm Titanium case which has a matte black DLC coating, as does its unidirectional rotational diver’s bezel.

The bezel is also equipped with scratch-resistant ceramic inlay with 60-minute dive-time scale, and luminous markers.

Its black, finely structured dial is with large black hour markers which have been coated with BGW9 or similar blue glowing SuperLumiNova.

The hour, minute, and second hands have also been treated with the same luminous coating. They are accompanied by a date window at 3 o’clock.

In addition to the watch’s stealthy aesthetic it has been designed and built sustainably AKA polar bear-friendly or should we say manta-friendly.

One example of this is its black rubber and PET-textile and strap made of 100% recycled plastic bottles removed from the ocean. A second version comes with a regular black rubber strap.

The ScubaTec Black(say CFB) is dedicated to protecting the oceans and to the brand’s partnership with the Manta Trust charity.

CFB has been cooperating with the Manta Trust for several years now, helping to conserve manta rays and their habitats.

Finally the ScubaTec Black is powered by the CFB 1950.1 caliber automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours.

The caliber has been officially certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) independent Swiss chronometer testing institute.

Each watch is accompanied by an individual COSC certificate.

Thoughts? I’m a sucker for black editions so this speaks to me; I’m also getting a bit of a Batman vive;

however I feel that they could have gone even further and used black lume and done the date and dial text in black too.
