Are Luminox watches really THAT bad? (+watches that use tritium)

    Hi folks,
i want to buy a watch with tritium on the dial and hands. I tought to play it safe and buy a Luminox, since there is a AD near where i live, but then i started to read about Luminox, and the red line trough all the things i read about them is : they are overpriced crap watches. Who has some experience with them? Can you confirm that they are rubbish?
Other watches that are on the radar are :
    -Borealis Scout Sniper
    -Tawatec e.o diver
-Vostok Europe GAZ-14 Limousine 3 hander
    -Traser tactical watch...
The watch can cost no more than 500€ since i'm planning to use it as a beater. Am i missing some other good stuff?

Made by Mondaine AFAIK ? ... are they overpriced and crap too ?

depends on the watch of course, cos some use the usual suspects of movements ... I can see a 7750 on 1st inspection ....

I have no experience of Luminox but I can vouch for Traser.

Traser is the brand name for watches made by mb-microtec (makers of the tritium tubes) and they're well-made watches.

Here's one that I had some years ago -

Marathon have a few tritium models.

I bought this Luminox model for my father a few years ago. It's a great watch but unfortunately they don't make it anymore and they seem to focus now on trendier and larger 'tactical' styles, most of which are butt ugly IMO.

I know, but they are priced above budget, therefore i was checking out the Borealis Scout Sniper (=299$), in the pictures below you can see why
