    I just got some new brown Clarks boots to match nicely with my belt and watch strap on the Hamilton... then I go and buy a black strap watch

    Which is strange, because I prefer wearing browns and earth tones... oh well.

    Your mum would take you to the Clark’s shop and you’d have your foot strapped into one of those measuring devices. It was almost like being taken to a clinic.

    The ‘sensible’ image was a bit off-putting once you were in charge of your own shoes.

    It’s a shame they’re not made in England any more.
