Alpina - thoughts?
Always interested in Chronos around the $2500 mark - Sinn 356 being my current front runner.
Alpina's Alpiner Chronograph seems to be a pretty solid option, assuming the AL750 Caliber is basically the Valjoux 7750 (website only seems to discuss the AL725 which is but omits the small seconds hand).
Has the supposed advantage of being a Swiss maker. Nice, relatively restrained size at 41.5mm
Any thoughts or experiences?

They look nice, but for me there's always been that something that's missing that keeps me from lusting after them.

Sister company of Frederick constant with a few shared in house calibres. Seems like a solid company with good offerings at reasonable prices.

All Out Bawl Out
I see a lot of Longines Conquest in the Alpiner Chronos and B&M Clifton in the Alpiner three hands. I really like some of the Startimers, particularly the Startimer Pilot Auto Chrono:
None of their quartz offerings do it for me.
Don't know that the brand is the best value proposition, but I'd seriously consider one from the grey market.

Yeah, but what's the correct pronunciation, Al-pEE-na or Al-pEYE-na? I like them either way, I just want to know.

I'd go with Alpeena personally , It how I pronounced it in my head when I was first introduced to them, and it stuck.
Doubt it matters that much , it's not such a huge faux pas either way.

The Dude Abides
Pretty nice, but they really wear big, at least to me. Like their Pilot watch, even though the lume sucks.
