I see an atomic crisis coming ]:->

An interesting TED talk and -- and if not watch, then at least timekeeping related.

And I finally have an excuse to post this article as a bonus: https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-51491471 -- there's a short vid at the end and I like that featured lady's (Carolyn Porco?) style with her wrist watch.

Well, there was Dr. John Patterson's attempt to take Bathys into the atomic timekeeping world: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/in...ic-clock-watch

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

They’ve been around for a while. I saw the Hoptroff caesium pocket watch at QP in 2013.

Yep, I first reacted, then went on to read the article.

I'm wondering about the atomic accuracy vs its physical manifestation, ie what control system they use to correct the watch mechanism and when.

Also, the battery life of 36h is an issue (if we want to treat the watch as an independent device, that is), but hey, still better than smartwatches.

But in essence, this Bathys seems to be the solution to the speaker's problem, indeed.

Except, alas, I don't think it ever went beyond the prototype. I vaguely remember that he took down the Kickstarter, and in the last few years he seems to have gone very quiet.
