Thread: A lockdown watch

The Ball Trainmaster Eternity fits your criteria. I have the blue one, but there’s a silver as well. 39.5 x 11.7.

The Ball may overshoot his price limitation.

I like the Damasko suggestion. Plus, with a full lume DA37 you could read by it if the power goes out.

Then of course at a tenth of your price point would be the classic Seiko SNZG17

Come to think of it, you did include quartz, so this Casio Waveceptor might fit the criteria at around $40

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Not sure--he said around 1000 quid, I think these are around $1300, so pretty close.

Oops, I didn't account for the quid to USD conversion.

They do a great job with their day/date. I had also had a DA47 with the full lume dial. The dial printing and date wheel alignment was excellent for the price point, as well as the ETA movement accuracy.

OK, so my thinking was that a fully spelled out day of the week would be the most in your face you could think of. The strong candidate I mentioned was the Hammy Khaki King:

with a champagne dial coming as a bonus.

Then there are Oris 'pointer days', but the only 40mm I see is the Artelier:

which is too dressy and probably wearing very large with the zero bezel. There is a small seconds Big Crown, but it's 44mm:

I also remember someone was making models with joined day+tridate, but not sure who that was. Memory points towards Luminox or Citizen, will have to refresh.

Of your suggestions, I like the Mako, because I'm a cheap a**e. And also because it comes in blue or pepsi and I could kill two whim-birds with one stone. (And it's been drawing my attention in cycles over the years, but I've never wanted it enough to pull the trigger).

I also remember eyeing lots of models of Casio with that module, can't remember why I always decided against the purchase in the end (might be the lack of decent illumination? ).

    Interesting, but 41mm

The Sinn is slightly above 1k, but may be worth it.
