COVID-19 on a personal level
Posted elsewhere before seeing this thread.
I got it three weeks ago, and was boosted at the six-month mark (Moderna) right before Thanksgiving. Maybe it reduced severity; maybe not. Sure didn’t hurt.
Fever for a couple of days and head-cold symptoms for 4-5 days after that. Supreme lack of motivation until just a few days ago. Never lost taste. My wife followed me by a day or so and smelled perfume that wasn’t there. I smelled body odor, and I’m making no claims about that.
I’ve had worse colds and much worse flu, but of course that’s anecdotal.

Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes.
She went through 4-5 days of hell with fever, severe body aches, nasal and sinus congestion, dry cough, and terrible headaches. She said her teeth hurt. When the fever stopped on about day 4 most everything else was gone in 1 or 2 more days. Today maybe 50% of her smell and taste is still missing but that means 50% has come back and that seems to be improving. Other than the usual 3-4 days it takes to rebuild your strength after terrible Flu like conditions she has no lingering fatigue.

2 shot vaccine and boosted and got COVID 2 weeks ago. Started with a sore throat which led to a mild fever for about 24 hours. After that a runny nose and a constant feeling of almost sneezing. That lasted about 3 days and other than that felt fine. The Moderna booster made me feel 10x worse than COVID did so I'm assuming the vaccine it did its job.
I never lost smell but I did have the phantom smell/taste. Can't describe it other than to say my smell was just off. I've read where some people describe it as smokey. Maybe sort of, but it had a sweet kind of smell to it as well. Like I said, just strange.
So for me it was a very mild case and I'm glad for the vaccine

A phantom smell/taste: I have not heard of that one. Glad you had just "mild" symptoms.

I was just talking with an acquaintance of mine. His COVID turned into sepsis, for which he was hospitalized for four days and was apparently “4-5 hours” from death, had his roommate and goddaughter not gotten him to the hospital. And he’s not out of the woods yet, he needs some follow ups and a possible surgery.
This is bad stuff.

So it got me. I couldn’t sleep last night and I got up at 3am with a sore throat. I took a test, and sure enough it was really faint, but positive. Luckily I’m vaccinated and boosted, so hopefully it’s uneventful. I’ll be confined to my office/man-cave unless the wife and kid also test positive.
Fun times.

Any idea where you picked it up? Good luck!

Ditto. Unfortunately it seems like pretty soon the news will be "hey, x years later and I still haven't gotten it." Let's hope it continues to be mild (for you and others), and that eventually it does just become like the flu rather than a news event. The problem is, from what little actual data I can find, we're not there yet since Omicron appears to have a death rate at least three times the flu.

It got my son, or so I think. He started with a headache and sore throat. That could be Oak pollen allergies since the trees have already started their annual bullshit (it has been so warm after 2 weekends of freezing temps they think it's April). But he is young and hasn't started having allergy issues yet. Within 2 days the symptoms subsided but he has felt overly tired since then. He is 7 days into it now.
The headache seems to be the common symptom for Omicron.
