A Casio DW-640 from the late nineties. Found it in a charity shop, not working, and absolutely filthy. Took it apart and the seals seemed Okay, so into a ultrasonic bath to get all the dirt off. The strap was washed, and trimmed with a "fuzzaway" and the bull bars resprayed. A new battery and everything seems to work, the light, the alarm all seem fine!

The cost of the watch - £3.00!!!!!!!

Looking at some other example through a Google search, it looks like the central line of text is not illuminating, but it works week enough otherwise!

I've no problem with that. The more the merrier; better late than never; and all that.

am still debating whether to use one of the timexs or make that wall clock as I spend ages trying to sort it out I bent it flat but looked wrong was tempted to cut the pie pan off it but then I would just have a flat metal shape which I did not think would look great so I spent ages trying to re-bend to shape it ant perfect but it is very passable special if going for old and vintage looking so just needs me to punch a hole in the centre and put one of the sets of hands movements I have now received ..

side bar starting to give up from buying from overseas as I order two metal sign both different type seller ..and two sets of movements all came damaged

both signs was badly bent (mean how much would it cost to put in a couple of pieces of hard cardboard ..) and both sets of hands for the movement was bent too (same tape the bags with the hands in on to hard cardboard )

so yeah not impressed with over seas packing tec

Well I hadn’t quite intended to dive this deep!

Some work to do yet, the terminal curve has been used as a punchbag at some point. I find them very difficult as I’ve not had anywhere near enough practice at the artform of HS correction.

Sounds good to me, thank you! I really do need all the practice I can get, I find some of watchmaking is mechanical and some is art. It helps a lot to have good tools and I need to up my tweezer game for HS manipulation as I don’t have any of the speciality ones.

It kinda draws you in, don't it ?! Bravo for having a go.
Yes, hairsprings do take a fair bit of practice and a ton of patience to boot.

Well we have life! The movement is assembled after servicing and it now has a beating heart. Not regulated or even measured yet, I like to first let it run the MS all the way down, so the oils can distribute themselves, then see how it looks on the Timegrapher. Not very good I suspect, haha!
