Because this looks like it might brush up a treat and I didn't expect the seller to accept such a cheeky offer. Mind you, he's got a pile of other cool stuff, so take a look. I have a benchmark...
Same seller that I bought my 'hopeful' from.
Likewise priced at £18 - I optimistically offered £13 to make a nice round £20 with the postage, and he (might be a 'she' ) accepted.

So now some poor Bulgarian is wondering why the hell everyone is offering them exactly £13 for everything.

Well, they won't be poor for long with all those £13s stacking up.

Probably thinking: 'Crazy, superstitious Brits !"

Is there a bit of the seconds hand loose in there somewhere?

I’d imagine so. I can’t see it though. I’m just getting to the end of term and then...

Good luck I'm sure you will get it. Patience is the key.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Turned out that it was more about technique than patience: After half a dozen attempts to insert the jewel into the fork, it occured to me to try something else...
So, held down the jewel on a flat surface and brought the fork to it... went in at the first attempt.

Happy to report that it's still running, and even better than that; it's within a minute from when I set it last night. Will do a more accurate test, later.

Now to decide what to do about its appearance... ... I could go to town and 'bling up' the case, but I kinda like the wear & tear and built up patina look. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks, but: Steady on, I don't hear any plus-size lady singing just yet. ISMY's Timex Q looks mint, plus he reckons he might have 'something up his sleeve'; and I'm dying to see how the GP turns out, to name but two. Still a few weeks left in the hunt, yet.
