TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 18 Chronograph

There have been several review in all the usual watchy websites recently about the Heuer Carrera Calibre 18 Chronograph. Continuing the vintage inspired watch vibe.

It has a lovely panda dial and the colour of the dial changes depending on how the light hits it to such a degree that I had to resort to Google to see if it was actually 2 different models!
The reviews seem to be in agreement that the 39mm size is good for the vintage feel while still being acceptable in modern sizes, the presence of the date is not considered strictly vintage but not a deal breaker.
The box sapphire crystal seems to work and even the movement Calibre 18, basically a self-winding Sellita SW300 base with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph-module DD 2223 on the top, seems to be decent enough.

There is however one point that all the reviews agree on is that the suggested retail price variously quoted as CHF 5900, EUR 4,900, USD 6,400 (I am not sure what exchange rate is being used here as these numbers are not equal) is probably 2,000 EUR too high.

What do you think, it is supposedly limited quantities, but is this too far out of line with what you would expect to pay for this watch?

Real looker, that. You can usually get a decent 20-30% off TAG (model dependant) so not too bad.

That is one beautiful watch. I would not pay a cent more that $4000 for it though.

Gorgeous, but a bit overpriced, I think.

Pricey List....but will get the usual 41% discount at Jomashop et. al.

So that takes it to $3700ish .... putting it directly in competition with the SMP (surely the intent).... now we could have a "this or that" vote.... but......

Very nice looking watch. I'm starting to be more and more a fan of Tag Heuer/Heuer.

London, I am NOT a cockney, though I live nearer to Bow Bells than most "cockneys" do.

I'd tend to agree with you, Tag do make some great looking watches
however more and more I'm seeing this one which I'm convinced is there just to make the rest of the range look better
