**WRUW Sunday 18th October**
My dad would have been 80 today.
This is the watch he was given on this date in 1961 to mark his 21st birthday.
I had the movement serviced and the crystal replaced a few years ago but have left it looking as it was.

That's a cool one ^^. I love having a few of my dad's watches. My father and I shared some nerdy tendencies, including horology, and it was one of the few things we could connect on as we got older.
Today I am continuing with the Sea-Gull theme (a week or so) with the WUS f72 Chinese forum vintage Chinese watch from 2013. The run was constructed from 225 lovingly restored vintage ST5 movements in three color styles. I chose the dressier silver and gold, because it feels classic and traditional to the era. We spent much more on these than we would ever get back in resale, but it's a gesture of respect to a solid movement built with a functional purpose.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

A bit of bike maintenance required later (new job is well within cycling distance, which should help shift 'the covid 15' 
); but first some measuring up for (potential) new kitchen units and counter tops.

That's what I like to hear. It's far too easy to strip a watch of all its character with cleaning and polishing.

Wearing the used J.Springs BEB589 I snatched up on ebay. After wearing it for 3 days it settled on a really good -5sec/24hrs. It started out with -24! So what do we learn from that? Never judge those cheapo Seiko movements (7S26 in this case) if you haven't worn it long enough to fully wind it.
