Beautiful and future-proof: outstanding watches with standard movements

Often forums give hearty approval to watches containing movements which have been heavily worked on, but have quite generic styling (eg Dornbluth)

Watches which have drop in movements tend to be judged for that, especially if there's a display back but no decoration.

What watches are you aware of which are truly outstanding front-side (you get to decide what qualities are important) but which have generic off-the-shelf non-chrono movements eg 2824 2892 8215 9015 SW200 SW300 Unitaswhateveritis 7001 2801/4 (Bonus points for 7001 and no display back)

This is definitely not a Show Me Every Watch You've Got With A 2824 thread, but rather Tell Me About The Special Things, show us watches whose front sides are as worthy of adulation as a heroically modified unitas would be round the back.

Is it now admitted that the ETA-made movement in entry level IWCs is just a normal 2892?

I think your criteria might fit quite a few of my favorites. I consider the 2824 to be the bog-standard of reliable and ubiquitous. I could post a bunch of them, but I'll start with just one, the Bathys 100 Fathoms Ruthenium TiCN - a playful beauty with very normal guts (and a closed back!)

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Yeah this is definitely a Show Me Special Things thread, not, Show Me Every Watch You've Got With A 2824

Watches where the front side is as worthy of adulation as a heroically modified unitas would be round the back

Mmm I rather like that turn of phrase, best add it to the OP....

I don't think the Monaco is a run of the mill ETA watch. It uses a ETA 2892 with a Dubois Depraz chrono module.

Here's a shot of the movement from Google
