That takes me back. That record was huge when it came out. I had a girlfriend who loved it.

Herbie Flowers, the bassist, plays a lot of small-scale jazz gigs around here. He must have been one of the busiest session players of the time. It was Herbie who came up with the bassline for ‘Walk On The Wild Side’ while Lou Reed had gone out for a sandwich. The song had no shape, apparently, until the session players got to work on it in Reed’s absence.

Cool info on Flowers, he is a great musician.

I collected 45RPM's since a wee lad, but this Nilsson album and Ten Years After - A Space in Time, were the very first LP's I purchased just before my 12th birthday early November 1971.

I remember it like yesterday, taking the bus to Harvard Square, going through the record bins at the Harvard Coop, which back then took up an entire floor of their very large department store. It took me hours to pick those two albums - both of which still get played on occasion.
