Should a Grown Man Wear A Snoopy Watch?

Timex is having a flash sale today. 30% off Timex Marlin automatics. I already have what I think is the most “classic“ iteration of the Marlin auto — stainless steel, black dial. But I’m kind of coveting one of the Snoopy Marlins.

I’ve always been a bit of a mini-rebel when it comes to watches. I pretty much would wear anything with anything. In fact, I enjoyed wearing a G-Shock where many people would say it didn’t belong, e.g., with a coat and tie. Indeed, I’ve been known to wear brightly colored G’s in that context. Of course, as an entertainment lawyer, I work in a world where there are few, if any, implicit fashion “rules”. Indeed, I dress pretty conservatively compared to many of my peers. I doubt I would have sported a bright red G during my courtroom days or if I were a banker.

I’m in a slightly more conservative period, gravitating more to watches with classic analog dials (mostly mechanical). Still, I think the Snoopy dials are a bit whimsical in an understated way. Maybe I’d bypass them for a funeral or a super formal event, but it seems to me they could go pretty much anywhere else.

I’ll ultimately decide for myself, of course. But I’m curious about what this distinguished crowd thinks. Am I nuts?

Secondary question is — do I go with the WWI flying ace forever in pursuit if the Red Baron? Or the writer forever channeling Edward Bulwer-Lytton (whose most famous book starts with: “It was dark and stormy night.” Bulwer-Lytton’s name is used in an annual contest to come up with the worst opening line for a would-be novel).

I agree! I love that one. It would capture the essence of my trade perfectly. If I ever come across one used, I'd get it but the prices Timex normally charges for their automatic watches are a joke IMO. But that seems to be true for a lot of companies lately (I'm looking at you, Seiko).
So, yes, I'd absolutely wear that one!
    Cheers, Sedi
