Those two watches make me wonder if there should be a thread entitled: Applied Roman Numerals: Can They Ever Work?

Omega has a number of watches with applied roman numerals. On this Deville Hour Vision, it works pretty well as it uses a san serif font, and the numerals have the kind of beveling we tend to associate with applied indices.



It is however less successful on this Deville Prestige, as they used a serif font, but it's difficult to achieve the subtle serifs with an applied numeral, and so it looks a bit clumsy in my opinion.



This is a Patek annual calendar with lumed applied roman numerals, which just looks crude and unbalanced in my view.
