Omega has a number of watches with applied roman numerals. On this Deville Hour Vision, it works pretty well as it uses a san serif font, and the numerals have the kind of beveling we tend to associate with applied indices.

It is however less successful on this Deville Prestige, as they used a serif font, but it's difficult to achieve the subtle serifs with an applied numeral, and so it looks a bit clumsy in my opinion.

This is a Patek annual calendar with lumed applied roman numerals, which just looks crude and unbalanced in my view.

Calatrava 5119J; Vacheron Constantin Overseas; Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Duo; Rolex Submariner 114060; Baume & Mercier Hampton Annual Calendar; Tudor Black Bay.

Coach Fulton; Hamilton Khaki Field H70555863; Helson Skindiver; Orient 60th Anniversary; Seagull 818.900 Tourbillon, 1963 Air Force; Seiko SNA089P, SUN017P1; Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military; Swatch Body and Soul, Heracles, Sistem51.

I'm an equal opportunity dial employer. Here's another printed one that looks pretty good to me:

OTOH, the applied look isn't too shabby, either:

Here's my answer to that one:

But back on topic, here are a couple of watches with screened markers (also Romans) that look deep and rich without being minimalist:
