The Chieftains were a revelation to me. I didn’t know folk music could be so beautiful. There are a couple of tunes from The Chieftains 5 that have been lodged in my head since 1975.
    I missed this. Big fan.

    Nice remembrance by BBC

Former US senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole died at 98 after a battle with cancer. While I disagreed with the majority of his voting record, he was an honorable public servant. Thank you for your service, Mr. Dole.
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Regardless of his policy positions, his bravery and dedication to the rights of veterans and individuals with disabilities (like himself) was admirable. I met him a few years ago when I was accompanying veterans on an Honor Flight trip to the war memorials in Washington. He regularly was at the WWII memorial, meeting and talking to other veterans. He was there that day even though it was humid and in the 90’s, talking to the vets and posing for pictures.

Politics aside, I do think Bob Dole was a good man. May he Rest In Peace.
