Nice piece. Simple furniture just isn't as nicely decorated in this modern era.

OK, I got bored and photographed some furniture.
The oak and leather thing. Oak console table and leather chair (both from John Lewis), oak floor (and oak slat blinds, now I come to think about it). The loudspeaker is cherry, though. The chair is seldom used, so that’s not actually the listening position for the hi-fi...
Yes, many people would put the TV between the speakers, but neither of us like the look of lined up electronics in a sitting room, and prefer to have TVs tucked away in a corner.
Oh, and oak unit under the TV, made by a local carpenter.

More oak, apart from the chair.
The chair was my grandfather’s, so probably early 1900s.

Conservatory stuff.
I think I’m done now - I’m not doing the bedrooms.

It could well be Victorian. My grandfather’s fisherman’s cottage was unlikely to be furnished with the latest styles.

Savagely Average
For years we kept the hodge podge of furniture we acquired along the way, much of which was free to us or heavily discounted. The past year we have actually taken the time to try to get decent, new, matching furniture about the house. It is amazing what a difference it makes.
