    Vapaus

Saw the ophion thread and was reminded of another dressy watch I had seen on Instagram and couldn't find a thread on IWL.

    Currently in development. http://www.vapaus.co

    Specs:
    Case Diameter: 38 mm
    Lug Width: 20 mm
    Lug to Lug: 44mm
    Crystal: Sapphire, high-arched dome
Case Material: 316L stainless steel (mixture of polished and brushed)
Dial: sunburst dial - 4 colours - Ice Silver, Black, Deep Blue or Slate Grey
Strap: 20mm tapering down to 16mm - full grain leather (no externally visible stitching)
    Manufacture: Swiss Made

Info from elsewhere gives that they will do both manual and auto versions.

    Handwind: ETA 2804-2

Automatic: ETA 2824-2 OR Soprod A10 (not decided which)

Like that they've kept it at 38mm (could probably have been even a tad smaller) and the wire lugs make it stand out a bit from the crowd. Gonna be interesting to see where they land on price. Nothing revealed yet.

At first glance I thought, the wire lugs show they're following a momentary craze.

The choice of hands seems a bit wilful too, more for attracting attention?

*wonders if that's a bit undergenerous*

    Interesting, thanks for posting, meijlinder!
Shades of Bluey and other sunburst 2209 Poljot deluxe /Luch ultra thins :-)
I like the size, subtle date and sunburst. The big question is going to be, how thick is it? (can't see it on their site)
    Nice one!

The A10 is 1.0mm thinner than the 2824 iirc

Well the ETA handwind and the soprod are both under 4mm (3,35 and 3,6) so they should be able to keep it slim, which is pretty much needed for this design imo

They had some ideas for dauphine hands I believe. I kinda like the paddles though.

I couldn't think of other dressers with wire lugs right away. What others are there now?

Looks very similar to a certain ST5 methinks.

All dial 38 would wear big, 20 to 16 strap would make it more so, the hands too

I like it!... my Orient bambino at 40.5mm is a tad to big for its style.. this one would be perfect!

    St5 + vostok

Guess we know why it speaks to me then.

If this is priced right this might replace my sekonda deluxe (which at ~34-35 is a bit small for me)

It reminds me more of WMW's Accurist Clerkenwell, with its thin printed indices and little date window a long way inshore.

The stubby applied indices on the ST5 seems to me Chinese Seventies whereas this is from a slightly earlier era.
