What's the history of this bezel font?

When did it first appear, and what were its influences?

At Baselworld 2009, Breitling introduced the Chronomat B01 -- the first model to incorporate Breitling's B01 in-house movement. The bezel of the Chronomat B01 used a new font (as pictured above). It is fair to say that this particular font was somewhat polarizing amongst Breitling aficionados. It has sometimes been dubbed the "Buck Rogers" font, due to its futuristic styling.

Yeah I was never a fan on that font but it wore on me after a while.
