Uncommon watches you had and let slip away

...and maybe shouldn't have let go because you just don't see that many of them. But at the time you had your (good) reasons.

Strangely, as I look back through what I've jettisoned, most weren't unusual, and the ones that were I had good reasons to let go then and still don't regret now...with one exception.

A little big for my current tastes at 43mm, and violates my "no watches without running seconds" rule, but I still miss the relaxed time indication sometimes.

According to my records, I have sold/gifted/traded around 65 watches since wandering down this twisted path. I don't regret any of them, but some were interesting. Here's a small selection of cool or rare things I passed along:

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Tag LE Titanium Aquaracer. They do not make anything nearly as nice as this one. I can't remember why I let it go. I apparently use to have more time to take better pictures back then. Also you can see the fasteners on this watch are the same that Hublot uses on the front surfaces of their higher end watches.

Arnold and Son White Ensign. I bought this for like $1000 many years ago BNIB. It was almost a $9k watch. It had a LJP handwind movement that was based on a JLC design which they added the date and PWR complications. Always loved the hands that bent up the bezel. It was a precursor of things to come since LJP now makes the movements for A&S since both are part of Citizen.

Panerai 619 in titanium with the 3 day micro rotor movement. If only it was a Luminor with this WR.(100m) and under 11mm thick. This is what the DUE should be if it only had the crown guard. Now these are fetching full retail if you can find one.

I did not sell this it was stolen. If only I was not talked into buying the first generation Batman since at that time they had four Hulks in the store. When it was time to buy they exploded again.

i don't remember the reference number, but this was possibly the coolest Seiko Velatura Kinetic Direct Drive dress diver type sports watch. I've not seen one since. I don't know if I want one but it was cool.

Anonimo Wayfarer II GMT with Ox Pro case finish and white dial. This was possibly my first White dial watch that set up a chain of others and my love for that dial color.

Ocean 7 LM2 LE GMT. Cool Ti watch with very cool lume. Great strap watch

Zenith Elite Ultra Thin... The only dress watch I ever really liked.

Doxa Sub 5000T Caribbean. I think this was the best looking and best watch Doxa ever made. Lume was insane on these.

Ball first Generation 40mm Skindiver...Only watch I wore on a thirty day trip through Asia. Never grew tired of it. Sold for Skindiver II which was not nearly as good.

First generation Ball Night Train with Tricolor lume and the mismark on the dial. My First Ball watch.

Airnautic Submarine 24 hour watch. The watch I wish I had in the military. Produced by Mitch from Ocean 7 after he bought out the brand.

Ball DeepQuest. One of the best watches Ball ever made and a true challenger for the Uber diver crown against the likes of the Omega ProPlof and the Rolex DSSD. Possibly the best crown action of any watch I've ever owned. Ball really stepped up their game on this one.

GO 1 of 25 Square Chrono 60's. I forget what they called these dials. This arrived and a half hour later had my heart attack. Kind of had a taboo that made me sell it.

I kinda regret selling it, but it allowed me to pay off the house (which turned out to be an uncharacteristically smart move, given that it was just a few months before Covid hit)
